This half day canoeing session in Derwentwater in the Lake District is ideal for beginner canoers. Learn in an open top canoe known as a candian canoe and explore the lake by paddling near beaches, islands and bays. A canoe expedition ideal for families.
With our half day canoeing sessions you will paddle across tranquil bays, discover the islands and shoreline around Derwentwater. One of the most picturesque lakes in the Lake District.
'Canadian Canoeing' or 'Open Canoeing', is easily mastered with a crew of two or more. Fantastic for lake exploration.
Your canoeing adventure starts with a brief paddling introduction, followed by a journey around the lake, exploring the beaches, islands and bays, and if the wind gets up we can raft the canoes together creating more stability, 'perfect for sailing down the lake'.
These sessions are extremely popular for, groups and famliy outings and individuals that would like to join in are more than welcome.
Meet up at the lake shore.
Unload the boats and safety equipment.
A brief introduction to paddling a canoe before 'the off'.
Then two and a half hours crewing a canoe, enjoying a journey around Derwentwater.
Return to the shoreline and trailer.
None needed- all levels are welcome.
We provide all of the acivity specific equipment for your session with us.
You will need to bring good outdoor footwear and element friendly clothing. ( waterproofs)
Please remember that cotton clothing is not the most practical outdoor wear. (Jeans etc)
Local car parking is available, but please remember that most parking facilities charge a fee.
