Ride a powerful, all-terrain quad bike through 100 acres of challenging countryside incorporating slopes, mud, grassland and picturesque woodland. The hour-long trek starts with a training session to ensure participants know how to ride and control a bike. An undulating countryside stage allows the instructor to judge the trekkers’ skill level before proceeding to a suitably challenging route through dense woodland, mud, water and harsh terrain.
Our experienced quad instructor will lead guests throughout to ensure safe techniques are used and to lead the group around the 100 acres of Wedgnock Rifle Range. Up to five trekkers can be taken out by the quad instructor during each session. If you can’t fill all five spaces we can mix individuals and small groups together to form a trek session.
Quad treks operate all year round, seven days a week, whatever the weather. Daylight is required, so availability during the winter is more restricted. Weekends tend to be in high demand so standard booking times are used. Typically sessions start at 9.30 am, 11.00 am, 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm.
All quad treks are booked in advance – we don’t offer any “turn up and drive” sessions.
The quad bikes used are Polaris Hawkeye 300 cc, 2x4 rear wheel drive bikes. These are very capable machines, offering all-round independent suspension, automatic gearbox, comfortable riding position, high-grip off-road tyres and are highly controllable. Everyone wears a full face crash helmet (just in case!) and gloves to protect hands from passing undergrowth. You are welcome to bring your own helmet as long as it is a modern design, in good condition and is a full face model.
All trekkers must be 16 years old or over, as the quad bikes we use are designed for adults. If you are lucky enough to look younger than 16 you will need to bring along some proof of age. During the initial stages of the trek the instructor will assess the ability of every participant. Occasionally a trekker won’t reach the minimum required level of riding ability to continue (around one person in every 50). If this does happen we will refund the participant in full.
If you can demonstrate that you can ride a quad bike safely you can take part. The quads are steered using a handlebars (the same as a bicycle), accelerated using a thumb throttle and braked using a finger operated lever (the same as a bicycle) and / or a foot pedal. Every participant must be able to confidently steer, brake and accelerate using these controls, so moderate strength is required. Body weight must also be transferred around the bike to safely negotiate sloped ground.
Disabled participants are welcome to book in and go through the same assessment process.
9.50 AM – Guests arrive at Wedgnock Rifle Range in Warwick and park by the reception building. The instructor will welcome the guests and everyone signs in.
10.00 AM – Crash helmets and gloves are issued and checked for size and fit. It’s then out to the quad bikes!
10.05 AM – The instructor will guide the guests through riding position, brakes, accelerator, gear changes, cornering and riding techniques. It’s then up to the training course to practice the techniques that will be required.
10.15 AM – After all the guests are happy, confident and able to ride the quad bikes the group will head out into the 50 acres of woodland area.
10.20 AM – The instructor will tailor the course taken to the ability of the guests. The trek starts with lots of straight forward obstacles to build on the ability and confidence of the participants.
10.40 PM – The trek will proceed onto to more demanding sections that require greater technique, ability and experience. Tight corners, steep slopes, rough ground, mud and water are all potential challenges!
11.00 PM – Trekkers return to the reception building. Helmets and gloves are returned and guests depart – tired, happy and exhilarated!
A real quad trek experience – a chance to put these powerful four wheel motorbikes through their paces.
How to find us:

Turn left into Wedgnock Lane and follow for ½ a mile. Turn left again into a private road opposite the Volvo Truck and Bus Building (look for flagpoles on the right) and follow the Adventure Sports signs for ¾ of a mile. (Post code for Sat. Navs. is CV35 7PX)
All participants will be equipped with a full face crash helmet (just in case!) and gloves to protect hands from passing undergrowth. You are welcome to bring your own helmet as long as it is a modern design, in good condition and is a full face model. You will need to wear outdoor clothing - expect some mud and water especially during the winter months). Wear clothes that you would use to do the gardening in on the day of your trek.
Outdoor clothes are essential! During the wetter times of year you will get wet and muddy. Some great advice is to wear clothing that you would wear if you were doing some gardening.
Usual clothing would include: Walking boots / wellington boots / old trainers. Walking trousers area ideal – jeans will be uncomfortable if they become wet. If rain is forecast, some waterproof over-trousers can be useful. A T-shirt, sweat shirt and fleece will allow for different temperatures and bring a waterproof jacket if it’s wet.
We will provide gloves and helmets. The gloves will protect your hands against undergrowth and keep your hands warm and the helmet for head protection. If you want to bring your own you are more than welcome. All helmets need to be in good condition and or modern construction and design and full face (not open faced).
All participants must be 16 years old or more. No previous experience is required as full training will be given. No driving licence is required. The activity is not suitable for observers.
