Photography Lesson - Half Day

This digital photography class in Keswick will teach you how to take good photos with a digital camera, how to be a photographer and how to get the best photographs! Take photos of wildlife, real life portraits or landscape pictures with this brilliant lesson.

The emphasis of our photography courses is firmly on relaxed, practical photography and through one to one interaction in the field, increasing awareness of how to make stronger, more dramatic images. Beginner or advanced, we have something for you to work on. Compact (point & shoot) or Digital SLR's are great for capturing images. Whatever the camera type, we will develop your understanding of your camera & your approach to creating photographs, giving you more fun, potential, creativity & drama in your results. If you are thinking of buying a new camera, one of our courses may help with your decision; you may even try one of our cameras before you buy your own.

A half day consists of approximately 4 hours of practical work. Our clients leave enlightened, confident & happy with results - we aim to keep it that way by maintaining a relaxed & individual approach within small group situations.

These are not just any courses; they are high quality, all year round, practical photography courses based in the stunning Lake District landscape. Working to each individual's strengths & ideas, we cover the technical aspects of the camera, light, composition & the artistic potential of a variety of subjects. Certain aspects of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop are discussed on full day courses. Whether it is half or full day, our clients gain confidence & a new way of seeing things, from the smallest plant life to the immense landscape.

This has been described as a 'memorable experience' and it is - for all levels of ability; beginners are most welcome.

Itinerary

Starting at Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, we move slowly along the shoreline learning to see and select aspects of the landscape from which to make great pictures.

After an hour or two, we move to a cafe for a working break where we look at the work and discuss elements relating to accomplishment and areas to improve.

It's then hands on again for the remainder of the course, with time to practice individually supported by our staff photographer(s).

Experience

We work happily with total beginners, those returning to photography or the more experienced photographer looking for new ideas or locations.

We adopt a very considered, relaxed approach to the course with your enjoyment of photography, our landscape and nature as the paramount objective.

A totally relaxed learning experience close to the lake. No bustle or distraction, just you, the camera and time to spend looking at the world through the lens.

There is some walking over uneven ground but nothing strenuous.

Pickup / Dropoff

Meet at Theatre by the Lake, Keswick; any transport from there is provided.

Meet at 7.45am November to March and 7am April to October, unless alternative time agreed by personal arrangement.

The theatre is on Lake Road, turning right at the mini-roundabout as you leave Keswick on the road to Borrowdale. The postcode is CA12 5DJ. Parking is available at the theatre car park for which you will need change

Essential Information

A relaxed yet memorable experience for all levels of ability; whether you are a beginner or advanced, we have something for you to work on & thoroughly enjoy.

Please bring clothing for all weather conditions, appropriate footwear & any camera equipment that you have; you may borrow camera equipment if needed.

Please also bring a pen drive for your images.
