When climbing isn’t what you need, a day of Ghyll Scrambling in Great Langdale, The Lakes is ideal. Also known as gorge walking or gorge scrambling, prepare to traverse rivers and lakes of the Lakes in this fun outdoor activity great for adults and fun for kids to do too!
Gorge or Ghyll scrambling is the exhilarating activity of moving along the hidden mountain streams and gorges of the langdales.
Climbing up waterfalls with the aid of ropes, tackling flumes, traversing rocky obstacles or jumping into deep swirling plunge pools.
You wont believe how much fun this is until you have tried it!!
Very wet, wild and challenging. Gorge scrambling is probably the most exciting activity you can do in the rain.
Available to everybody, adults and kids alike, there are paths running along side, so if one section is a little too daring for you, you can miss it out and rejoin on the next section.

Start at the Highpoint Base in Elterwater, at 9am, then a 5 min drive down to Sticklebarn car park, from there we spend at least 3 hours in the Ghyll and depart back to Highpoints base at around 12.30pm.
