When climbing isn’t what you need, a day of Ghyll Scrambling in Keswick is ideal. Also known as gorge walking or gorge scrambling, prepare to traverse rivers and lakes of the Lakes in this fun outdoor activity great for adults and fun for kids to do too!
At Mobile Adventure all our instructors have an enormous knowledge of the various different gorges in the Lake District and take great pride in tailoring the day to give your group as much enjoyment as possible. Indeed there are several venues that we have discovered in our exploring that are rarely used... so you will be getting a truly unique Lake District experience!
Depending on the local water levels we will head to the relevant venue before kitting ourselves up in full length wetsuits, cagoules, buoyancy aids, helmets, and all other technical equipment. After a briefing from the instructors we will head into the water where you will be confronted by a series of challenges which will test your physical and mental abilities to the extreme.
The gorge is a terrific activity for creating a strong team spirit as you help each other up the waterfalls and rocky steps, and encourage each other to take a leap of faith from the jumps. Although your instructors will always be close by showing you the safest / easiest route, the emphasis is on you and your group finding ways to make progress through the gorge.
Our challenge to you is this:-
"As yet we have never had a group where everyone has done all the challenges... will your group be the first to completely conquer the gorge?!"
Due to the weather dependant nature of this activity it is hard to describe a typical itinerary. We would expect to meet at 10am at our chosen venue, and will aim to finish by 4pm. We normally spend approximately 3 – 4 hours in the water depending on the group’s abilities, water levels and the weather.
Testing yourself against the power of water while being surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in Britain makes this a wonderful activity. Your adrenaline levels will be up as you swim scramble and jump off ledges into waterfalls!
Upon booking with Mobile Adventure we will provide you with detailed directions to the meeting point
